Dakar Day 8. San Juan to San Juan

Went up to Ica to see them race in the dunes and got a really good spot, so good that we had run out of the way of a few bikes coming out of a bowl after entering it by mistake. Adrien van Beveren came up and could not crest the dune and fell trapping his his left leg right in front of us so we scrambled down and lifted the bike, he jumped on and blasted back down and then up and over the dune. Only about five of the top riders made the error of dropping off into the bowl and then all the guys behind went around the bowl following the tracks made by previous riders.
The police then moved us and we crept back and they just give up in the end, it's a joke what they out there trying to control the people. We stayed till the end, another day with no food or enough water in the sweltering heat. We never are able to buy food cause the shops are closed when we leave and when we get back into town at night.
Was a fun and long day in the dunes cheering on our fellow countrymen, most of them wave back at us if they are not to occupied.
Drove up to Paracas to the bivouac where we met up with Lindsey and Boo and went and wandered around the bivvie. Unfortunately the only South African doing the Molle Moto was out, and we saw Stuart Gregory as we were walking around and he was so bummed that his bike quit earlier in the day and was out of the race, with only two days to go.
Went back to our same room we had heading down , showered and went to grab a bite to eat. The service at all the restaurants is atrocious, they never come back to see if you need another beer or maybe some desert.
